Oil and Your Health

Almost of us know that too much animal fat is bad for health. Just for this reason, we 'switch' to another healthier alternative - polyunsaturated vegetable oil, such as safflower, sunflower, corn or soybean oil. But, we must undestand that vegetable oils contain a combination of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat in varying proportions.

Polyunsaturated vegetable oil generally are good because they are purpotedly heart-friendly. However, new studies have reported that polyunsaturated oils including soy, sunflower and canola have lower stability than monounsaturated oils like olive and palm oil. That means, they are prone to oxidation which also means bad to your health.

Scientists and nutritionists are becoming increasingly concerned over the health risk of reheating oils or reusing them. When heated or fry foods, oil produce a toxic compound known as HNE, that has been related to cardiovascular disease, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, lever problems and cancer disease.

It's easier for you to minimize the level ov HNE if you cook your own food. But many commercial food handlers and restaurants reuse their cooking oils. Just imagine how to enjoy your favourite  banana fritters, snacks and even fried chicken away from home safely.

Another culprit that is known as the 'silent killer' is hydrogenated oil and trans fatty acids found in over 90% of the food produced today. In 1998, the link between hydrogenated oils and breast cancer was hi-lighted in the Oprah Winfrey's show with Dr. Bob Arnot. Over 100 researches show these oil are harmful to human body. These oil can dramatically increase the risk of coronary heart disease, non-insulin dependent type II diabetes, or hyperinsulinemia, auto imune disease and various cancers.

In many individuals, this oil can cause various degrees of acne, skin problems, boils and cysts. Hydrogenated oils are more readily absorbed by foods rather than fresh oil during food preparation. These are bad news to your waistline and hips as that translated to body fat build up.

It's really isn't an easy matter when you eating away from home, but we still can control it by limiting the absorption of the oils. Always bring along Corn Fiber Plus with you!
